One legend of the Hannya myth speaks of a beautiful woman who falls madly in love with a Buddhist priest but was rejected because of his priestly status. Her longing and desperation, the tragedy and pain of her unrequited love turns her into a she-devil consumed with rage, jealousy, anger and revenge.
